Solarity’s Women-Led Board Anchors New Wave of Solar Innovation in Nigeria

Nigeria’s renewable energy sector has hit a milestone. Solarity, a Lagos-based solar solutions provider operating under Vanpeux Global Synergy Ltd, has paired bold governance reform with product innovation — unveiling an all-female board of directors alongside a suite of VERASOL-certified solar products ranging from lanterns and home systems to wall-mounted solar generators and lithium-battery freezers.

With this dual announcement, Solarity is signaling both strategic maturity and market readiness for scale, particularly through partnerships with microfinance institutions (MFIs), rural cooperatives, and healthcare providers.

Governance at the Core

Solarity’s board is chaired by Ms. Hansatu Adegbite, a respected voice in women’s leadership, private sector business advocacy and the National representative of the United Nations in Nigeria. She is joined by:

Betty Oluwasina, Group CEO of CAPSTONE Microfinance Bank, expert in financial inclusion and last-mile lending.

Nwamaka Udenigwe, Nigeria’s “Queen of Sales” and Director at Oriflame, with unmatched consumer penetration expertise.

Josephine Ehimen, CEO of NETT Pharmacy, bringing healthcare distribution insight.

Emmanuella Ngororano, MD of Emerging Impact in Kenya, known for forging partnerships with DFIs and impact investors.

Together, they bring governance depth across finance, healthcare, consumer markets, and international development.

“Our board embodies the sector expertise required to lead Solarity into its next phase of growth,” said Chair Hansatu Adegbite. “With VERASOL-certified products already embraced by MFIs and cooperatives, we are demonstrating not just readiness, but traction.”

Innovation in Action

At the Lagos launch, Solarity introduced products tailored for households, micro-businesses, and institutions:

Solar Lanterns: Solarity Solo, Solarity Solo Plus.

Solar Home Systems (SHS): Solarity Lite, Solarity Max (with optional TV or fan bundles).

Solar Freezers: Eco, EcoMax, EcoMax+ — lithium-battery powered, paired with 36V solar panels.

Wall-Mounted Solar Generator: A space-efficient unit that can be bundled with a DC fridge.

All products carry VERASOL certification, meeting international standards for durability, safety, and performance.

Ovoke Ekrebe, CEO & Co-Founder, remarked: “The future of energy access in Africa is collaborative — and Solarity is prepared to lead from the front. Our mission goes beyond products; it’s about empowering women, young girls, youth, and people living with disabilities to be part of the clean energy transition.”

The launch was led by Ms. Jessica Utichi, Global Head of the Group Distributors Collective (GDC), with GET.invest also represented — signaling growing international partnerships behind Solarity’s mission and over 45 GDC members across the globe.

Traction on the Ground

A pilot batch of 15 solar freezers and 356 Lanterns and SHS sold out during the launch and in the month after, proving strong market appetite for productive-use cooling and Solarity’s positioning.

Top MFIs and rural cooperatives present committed to distributing Solarity’s lanterns and SHS, citing bright white bulbs and superior build quality as decisive.

Peter Ejimudo, COO & Co-Founder, emphasized: “Our vision is simple yet bold — leave no one behind. By working with cooperatives, microfinance institutions, and local communities, we are creating a sustainable pathway where energy inclusion drives both social impact and economic growth.”

Scaling Through Partnerships

Unlike many solar firms focused on fragmented retail sales, Solarity is deliberately prioritizing B2B and institutional-first channels. MFIs and cooperatives manage installment sales and collections, freeing Solarity to focus on innovation, training, and technical support.

This model accelerates adoption while strengthening financial sustainability.

Looking Ahead

With governance credibility, a diversified VERASOL-certified portfolio, and early traction, Solarity is well-positioned for scale. The company is inviting impact investors, DFIs, and institutional partners to co-drive expansion in healthcare, rural cold chain, and micro-enterprise energy solutions.

As Africa pushes toward universal energy access, Solarity’s blend of visionary governance, tested products, and collaborative distribution may set a new benchmark for inclusive energy growth.
