BYD ATTO 3
A brand-new electric BYD Atto 3, worth Sh8.2 million, is up for grabs at this year’s Magical Kenya Open.
Any golfer who scores a hole-in-one will drive away with this sleek, eco-friendly car.
The tournament, part of the DP World Tour, kicks off today at Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi.
The car will go to the first player who hits a hole-in-one on the 191-yard, par-three 13th hole during the four-day event. Jennifer Kinyoe, Managing Director of Loxea, says the prize represents their push for innovation and sustainability. “At CFAO Mobility and LOXEA, we aim to create a greener future,” Kinyoe said during the car’s handover to Ronald Meru, Commercial Director of Kenya Open Golf Limited. She added that the BYD Atto 3 is more than just a prize—it’s a step toward cleaner transport and reducing carbon emissions.
Giving away an electric car as a prize shows how sports sponsorships are embracing eco-friendly ideas.
CFAO has backed various sporting events, including the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally Kenya.
Now, their support extends to golf and other sports.
The last time a car was offered as a hole-in-one prize at the Magical Kenya Open was in 2017 when Finland’s Oliver Lindell won a Ford Ranger Wild Trak.
This year, excitement is high, with Meru thanking CFAO for the contribution.
He said the electric car fits well with the tournament’s sustainability goals and brings extra thrill to the event.
The Magical Kenya Open brings together over 150 golfers from around 30 countries, competing for a total prize pool of $2.5 million (around Sh322 million).

The winner will walk away with $425,000 (about Sh54 million). This year marks the 56th edition of the tournament, which has been a key part of African golf since 1967.
In the lead-up to the tournament, six Kenyan professionals took part in the Pro-Am event at Muthaiga Golf Club.
Tournament Director Patrick Obath noted that 48 professionals would compete, including well-known Kenyan golfers Greg Snow and Dismas Indiza, alongside past champions from international circuits.
Bringing electric cars into major events like this could influence consumer choices and industry trends in Kenya.
Seeing electric vehicles featured in such a high-profile tournament may encourage more people to consider them as a practical option.
This shift benefits the environment and creates opportunities for businesses promoting green technology.
As the tournament begins today, golfers are not only aiming for victory but also for a chance to win an electric car that represents progress and sustainability in sports.
The excitement surrounding this year’s Magical Kenya Open will leave a lasting impression on players and fans alike.
